Summers here!
Free power thanks to the sun, and our first barbie of the year Just spent the last two and a half weeks on a Temporary Holiday Site near Arnside (top right hand corner of Morecambe Bay). This was our first experience of relying on the sun for our power, our panel proved amazing, it powered all the necessary stuff, plus the telly and charged the lap top, phones and Ipod via an inverter. It worked even in the rain, although luckily there was not much of it and we even got sun burnt. The area around Arnside is fantastic, we went out every day walking and cycling and still didn’t manage to see everything, it is a walker’s/cyclist’s paradise. Morecambe Bay is huge and we were lucky enough to see the tidal bore on two occasions. The town of Morecambe was not that interesting but the promenade was great, you could cycle right along it.
Many thanks to North East Lancashire District Association for organising the site and the games over the Easter weekend. Trevor managed to get into the final of the horse shoe throwing, only just losing even though he’d never played before (his words). His team won the tug of war, but he only managed fifth in the welly wanging. We
also had our first barbecue of the year, the peacock was just too big to fit although he was desperate to try.
We had one very productive day making more beer (the last lot evaporated, so Trevor says) and Trevor asked me to cut his hair - he won’t ask again!
We were very sad to leave both the site and people, but hope to see some of them again soon.
Onwards and upwards!
