Today we took another half-day trip to Hampton Court to check out the palace. We should have gone to this castle before Windsor because the state rooms and king's apartments were not very impressive. The rooms were completely barren less the art on the walls. It gave the feeling of an art museum rather than a royal palace. The kitchen was the highlight of the audio tour--I learned that the wealthier you were, the more meat you ate. Apparently, the King's diet consisted of 75% meat-->clearly old school Atkins. The gardens and lawns surrounding the palace were definitely more awe-inspiring than the inside, but if it had been a cloudy/rainy day then I probably would not have been impressed. The Maze, apparently the oldest in Britain, was also fun--we got to the center and out alive!

A nice trip, but it didn't leave me in awe the way Windsor did. At least it was another beautiful day!
