On Saturday we braved the rain and cold that is England's summer and headed to the Royal Ascot races in our best dresses and hats. We started the day off in style with a champagne breakfast to celebrate Sarah's 30th (our B3 friend from Egypt) and then proceeded to lose all our money on horses with great names, but slow legs. We saw the Queen sitting in her box just near where we were standing, and joined in the grand English tradition of gathering around the bandstand at the end of the day to sing such all time favourites as "I've Got a Lovely Bunch of Coconuts". With champagne at £70 a bottle(!), we managed not to drink too much during the day, and so were in fine form to continue into the night at the local Ascot pub where it seemed half of Australia had gathered, and one or two Poms.

Hope everyone's well back home, and a big congratulations to new parents Lucy and Dave - Thomas "Tulloch" is gorgeous, and I'm sure he'll appreciate the racing update! xx
