Leaving the camp ground late today, we all slept in big time, we finally got away around 10.00 and Pam was supposed to set the Tomtom to take us to Amesbury some 20 miles away which is right next to Stonehenge, our destination for the day.

Well it turns out that due to a minor blonde moment, she set the Tomtom to Westbury, which is in the wrong direction! Not a great start to the day. By the time we had figured out much time had elapsed and a number or sharp words exchanged. Setting the Tomtom to the new destination it proceeded to take us down these tiny narrow country lanes. Well wanted to get off the beaten track and did we, to be honest driving through the small villages dotted along the route was fantastic and we saw some sights your average traveler would not, an 800 year old church in a tiny village of around 10 houses and the expected pub. Making it to Stonehenge it was wet, windy and bloody freezing, there were men working on the site and the photography opportunities lousy, still we saw the old rocks and that was what mattered. Standing there in the rain it makes you stop and wonder why some old Druids around 5000 years ago decided to lug some huge 20 ton stones from Wales some 250 kms away to set in a circle in England. WHY WHY WHY???

Leaving Stonehenge we set off to try and find the huge Kiwi carved into the hill at Beacon Hill above the old Kiwi
army unit located in the valley below, we found it after much driving around only to be somewhat disappointed, it
looks nothing like a Kiwi from the only available viewing point and I guess you have to be standing in the
barracks to see the shape, so some advice, if you think about going to see it don't bother, very disappointing.
Being now quite late in the day we decided enough was enough and we headed to the supermarket to get some
necessary vittles. Pam had to do some work so we returned to the camp site around 4.30 for an early day.
