A Favorite Pastime.
Standing on a bridge watching a river slide by. Yes, we have had wonderful sunshine for the last 10 days although the evenings are still cold. Spending time strolling the lanes and pathways with the dogs, helping Helen and Pete with a couple of projects they are doing in the garden and just having a lazy but interesting time. We caught the train into Bristol one day , had a ferry ride around the harbour and strolled along the waterfront until Pete finished work, then we had a meal looking out over the water. Very nice and we were most impressed with the Bristol that we saw. We did see it in it's best light, with a fantastic day, no wind and warm sunshine. People were out sitting along the waterfront and having picnics and drinks. After dinner we went to a concert of 2 halves. The first half was a girl singer called Brook Sharkey and her backing group. The second half was a group called the Winter Mountain. The girl was a bit so so with a good voice, original songs, but very much the same tempo for the whole set. The Winter Mountain group was much more up tempo with all original material written by the lead singer
Old Houses.
There are so many houses that catch the eye. who also did number of acoustic guitar numbers. Interesting group that got people back into the show. We drove home from Bristol pretty late in Petes new car, so a late night. With the garden project we have been visiting a garden centre called Whitehall. Wow. This is definitely the best garden centre I have been to. Huge. With so much stock and variety. All sorts of things. Spent ages just looking around.
Margaret, Helens Mum, decided that we should go for high tea at the Royal Crescent Hotel in Bath A nice afternoon in a very special place. Di, Helen and Margaret went for afternoon tea and a garden tour of Highgrove, Prince Charle's residence. They loved it and spent over 3 hours there. Di and I have driven around and stopped whenever a view or place took our fancy. Stopping in the woods not far from an old village called Lacock we enjoyed walking through the Bluebells that cover the ground under the woods. Acres of them make such a beautiful sight and along with all the other wild flowers that have burst into life over the last few weeks ,it makes the landscape magic. So many
old houses to look at, old bridges to stand on to watch the rivers and old church's make the views and landscape truly lovely.
Easter is upon us so there has been an influx of young adults into the house. I picked up Sam, Tim's son from Sydney, from the station on Thursday, then Alex and Georgie, Pete and Helens girls came home that night. The next day Kevon, Alex's friend and Ollie, Helens nephew arrived for the weekend, so a very full house for Easter. Easter Sunday is a big family gathering with Simon and Margret coming as well as Aunty Lorraine, so a busy day. All's good but back to NZ on Tuesday. Pip/Rod
