Glastonbury
Welcome to 'Tentsville' Well, what can we say. This was an amazing little trip & one we won't forget.
London & the greater UK for that matter really fires up for summer music festivals. There seems to be one on every other week & finally it was our turn - Glastonbury !
The lead up was exciting with the full line up only released a week before the main event. The only concern was to be the weather with many photos of a flooded glastonbury doing the rounds. We weren't too keen to see our own tent floating away.
Troy & Carrie happened to purchase a camper van for their upcoming euro adventure, so we got refunds on our train tickets & piled into 'bambi' (a suitable name for the cosy little van). The grounds open on a wednesday but we worked up until the last minute & left early Friday morning. The music officially kicked off at lunch time Friday & we arrived just in time.
It was a marathon effort getting from the van to our campsite, & we had an appropriate Glaso welcome when the heavens opened. We caught a few songs from The View as

Di settles into our new home we passed in front of the main stage before meeting up with Craig aka Rexie. Craig had done a magnificent job of saving a little patch of grass for us to squeeze our two tents into. Who knows where we would have ended up, thanks again Craig ! It was the perfect spot, at a slight angle to ensure the water passed us by & close to the John Peel stage.
We put our tents up in the rain & just when we thought we were dry, the tent started to leak. Mental note - don't buy the cheapest tent you can find. Di did a stella job in patching the holes with cut up plastic bags.
All the bands were great & here are some of the ones that we were lucky enough to see;
FRI - Amy Winehouse, Magic Numbers, Arcade Fire, Artic Monkeys
SAT - The Bees, Lilly Allen, Kooks, The Killers
SUN - Shirley Bassey, Manic Street Preachers, Kaiser Chiefs, The Who
The rain was contstant & the grass quickly turned to mud. Our wellies turned out to be our most prized possessions. The only problem was that it was really tough

Shock, horror. The cheap tent we got from the supermarket springs a leak. to get around the place. The mud was thick & very sticky in places & many people took nose dives. There were stories of mass ankle breakings in some of the mosh pitts - ouch !
The site was a massive 1000 acres. It had everything. We didn't even scratch the surface, but still had a great time.
