Our lift home
Good ol virgin atlantic!! Cheers Mr Branson!! ***Kim's Post backpacking thoughts***
Well they always say home is were the heart is and i must say its true. Being back is good and bad. Must admit that i didn't realise how much i'd missed everyone and it was so good to see everyone again. The suprise went brilliantly, I nearly gave my mum a heart attack, made my sister bawl her eyes out and well, as for Megs, I think she thought i was a spirit! She wouldn't talk to me for ages and kept asking my mum what i was doing there! But I am missing the whole travelling lark. Must admit though if I ever see a train again it'd be to soon!!
I'm back in the swing of things already, dam it. I have a job but it is 9 til 4 weekdays which i've never had before in my life! Weekends off rule and mainly consist of me going out and drinking too much alcohol! Whats new eh? Decided to go to Uni next year so I can save some money to move out, deffiantly loved the independence of not living at home for 6 months (but mum is back doing my washing
Heathrow departures!!
We expected to come home to rain, but since being back the weather has been amazing, apart from this last week...typical!! I was very smelly by this point!! again!!!).
I had the best 6 months of my life, I met the most amazing poeple and experianced so many different things that i will never never forget. I just want to say thanx to everyone we met for being interesting, funny and teaching me new things. I also wana say thanx for anyone that put up with me and Trev acting like an old married couple most the time.

***Trev's Post backpacking thoughts***
The six months I spent travelling were without a doubt the best of my life, it wasn’t always fun and often hard work (believe it or not!) but the experience was worth every penny, hangover over and bad stomach! I was lucky enough to see and do things that many people won’t ever get the chance to do in their whole lives so I am very grateful for that. I also made some fantastic friends (you know who you are) from all manner or countries and backgrounds that ill keep in touch with. Travelling defiantly wizened me up to many things and gave the independence which I really needed. It defiantly won’t be the last time I go away, already being
Rookie Backpackers
Notice how pale we look! Easy pray for any would be tout or con man, the product of living an easy sheltered life in England. Also notice that steriotypical stiff/uncomfortable looking english posture!! You can see the naivety in our eyes!! :-P at home I miss many aspects of backpacking, though there are many I don’t. I was also lucky to have Kim as a travel buddy. After talking to lots of other travellers it is pretty rare that two friends can go away without having many arguments and fall outs a long the way. In fact many people who go away together come back on their own, so got to thank Kim for being an ace travel buddy, even with her drinking problems, cigarette addictions not to mention the random men she brought back to the dorm, joking of course ;-) Kim *cough*!!
A lot of people find it very easy to moan about the UK but after seeing and experiences some of the things I did I came to the conclusion that we are quite lucky to live where we do, the grass often seems a lot greener on the other side than it really is. Saying that, what I wouldn’t do for some Thai spring rolls right now with sweet chilli sauce and a chang beer!!
It was a really good feeling to land back home in the UK even though the surprise didn’t work out as
Veteran Travellers!!
Travel hardened, street wise and savvy! How relaxed we are, Look at the wisdom in our sun wrinkled faces!! Both now give off that traveller vibe making us charismatic, independent and far more attractive to the opposite sex ;-). Alright maybe I’m exaggerating, look at the dodgy beard( Kim not included with the beard of course), shaggy hair and lack of a proper diet and toll that excess alcohol has put on our appearance. What a sorry state!! planned. We got home at around 11am and I went home to surprise my family and found that no one was even in and the house remained empty till gone 5pm!! It didn’t help things as I badly needed a shower!! However when everyone eventually got home the wait was worth it, was fantastic to see my family and friends again especially the look on my mums face!!
As for now, well I’ve come home and somehow managed to land myself a very nice girl (hello Nicki :-P) and a job so things seem to be going very well indeed! Things had a habit of working themselves out for the best while I was away so I’m quite happy let events conspire in the same way now I’m back home. So all in all things are looking up and I think that the six months I spent away had a major part to play in this, backpacking isn’t for everyone but it definitely was for me.
