Well where do we start,
It has been Zuzanas goal to one day travel around the world and to see all those places that always seem to far far away or maybe in a dream. Some of them you'd have heard of and some of them I didn't even know existed. She has a huge (I mean a monster) map of The World in the living room and she refers to it every day with ideas and places to visit. The idea has been swimming around in our heads since we've been together. But when we came back from Slovakia in the beginning on 2008 and got home knowing work was the next day....we decided that's it - time to get serious!
Well she's now given me the bug and at last all the dreaming is about to come true. We're off. We've decided to take career breaks and working for a company that sees that as a good thing.. is a good thing.
We will be leaving the UK in the Winter month of February 2009. Taking our first stop in Uganda. We will then travel all the way through Africa - Tanzania, Mozambique etc.. until we

Jedno pivo and caj prosim..... my first drink in the Tatras reach Cape Town. We'll track back to Jo'burg and take a plane to India. From India we'll see eastern Asia, as East as Japan and as South as Bali, through Laos, Vietnam, China and many many more. From Asia we fly to Australia to see friends and relatives then a quick hop to New Zealand for the same reason. I feel this time will be a bit of much needed R&R from all the trekking and slumming it so far. Then a long flight to Panama in Central America working our way south through Peru and Ecuador and then to Brazil. Brazil will be the last leg of the tour.
We're doing this in a 11mth period arriving back in the UK on the 15th December 2009. We're going to be saving £10k for this trip - so we'll be roughing it most of the time, but I hear it just adds to the adventure.
Now my thinking is there's a lot we're not going to see, but to be honest, I think we have the main sites covered. Things like the USA (if we ever want to go) can be done on a Holiday. It's not a

.... and the Tank!!!! once in a lifetime country in our opinion.
In preparation Zuzana has created this amazing itinerary - so amazing it is, is that it's turned into a massive Excel document with all destinations, budgets (yes she researched virtually every country with regards to food/ cost of living/ trips/ flights etc) dates, visa details. This is a work of great art and has been a project of hers for the last few months. She's worked really hard on it and when it has been completed, we'll post it on here for you all to appreciate.
We will be visiting a total of 22 countries and travelling a total of 33224 miles in 329 days. Our adventures so far have taken us to the far reaches of Norfolk and as far south as Devon and we roughed it in a tent. We've also made a 1000mile trip from the UK to Slovakia in 18hrs, using Zuzanas tank of a Peugeot, to visit her family back home.
You're probably thinking that Zuzana is doing pretty much all the work - and to be honest she really has. But having spoken to people about it, friends, colleagues and family, I've made
The Adventurers
.. little bit more stylish!!! so many connections in so many countries that we'll be meeting many people on the way. I've been in contact with friends that are travelling and they too have provided me with names, places and costs. I feel this has been my greatest contribution so far. I also feel on a personal note that I am helping Zuzana to fulfil her dreams by being the one to carry her bags around the globe. If I'm really honest, it's never been a dream of mine. My life a year ago was pretty straight forward. I had a career and things were going ok. I then met Zuzana and although it's quite a cheesy thing to say, she has turned my world upside down. She is the most incredible woman on the face of the Earth (without counting you Mum). She provided me with the inspiration to do something unimaginable, something that will change my life forever and I get to share all this with her. It's almost as if she is sharing her dreams with me and I think that's one of the most amazing things that one person can do for another.
So here we are 20th April 2008... 41 weeks ago. It's a long time, but when you fully understand and consider the size of the task and what needs to be done in that time, it'll fly by.
For now we're saving like nutters and doing lots of things that do not cost a penny.. Like stealing. But the Journey has started and our hearts and minds will be on this trip until the day we go.
Speak to you all soon
