Rainy view from Old Winchester Hill
Old Winchester Hill is reported as having one of the finest Iron Age hill -fort sites in the south with wonderful views. Due to the inclement weather not a place to tarry awhile What a damp experience this turned out to be and the net result was being drenched to the bone. This stretch was to take me from Exton to South Harting being a distance of 15 miles. It rained most of the way. The guide book described all the wonderful views that were to be seen from many parts of this stretch of the walk. They were not available today to this walker due to the descending mist and the driving rain. In the process I became drenched to the skin. Everything in my rucksack was sodden including my wallet and guide books. At one stage I needed to refer to my guide book and retrieved it together with my glasses. The glasses steamed up, the pages of the book stuck together and I wasn't certain which way to turn.I kept saying to myself you are supposed to be enjoying this and remember your are on holiday.
Needless to say there were not to many photographic opportunities but I managed to get a few.
They say the weather is going to be better tomorrow - lets hope they get it right

shame about the rain!!
Dear John...well done that angler and like most of them, I don't think the rain would deter any fisherman. Despite the rain, I think the thought that, tomorrow the sun will shine will spur you on. After all, it can't rain all the time....can it? !! At the moment, a lot of rain has fallen further up the South Island but we seem to have escaped the worst of it.
