Hello Everyone, Me and my Fiancée are looking to do some travelling before we get married and really need some advice with what we need to do it.

I'm 25 and she is 23 and we both currently have working jobs of which are letting us take 3-6 months break to do some travelling, We don't intend to do the full 6 Months.
What we need advice with is whether our route is ok and also how much money you think we may actually need to do it.

Our route is as follows-
Beijing (1 week)
Tokyo(1 week)
Bangkok ( This is our starting point on our trip in Thailand which we will really explore) 2 Months
Kuala Lumpur (3 -4 days)
Singapore (1 week)
Perth (2 weeks staying with family)
Sydney (1 week)
Auckland (1 week)
Fiji (1 week)
And then home.

We have been told by friends that we have too many places and that we might be rushing these destinations which we appreciate but because of our job issue we feel like this is our only option. I would love everybody's opinion on here as to whether that's correct.

We plan to go traveling from Jan 2015 for between 3-6 months depending on where we actually decide on going to. We also have no problems in staying in hostels ( aslong as there isnt crawling insects everywhere lol)

Money wise which obviously is very important is the worrying issue for me and my partner as we just dont know how much we will need, I should have 9k by Jan and my partner should have 7k so any advice on this would be very much appreciated also.

Many thanks for reading and hope to speak to you all soon.

Hello Luke
Welcome to Travel Blog! If you will go to this forum and create a new question I imagine you will get several answers from other bloggers. http://www.travelblog.org/Forum/10-1/ The responses will come to you automatically. This is a fantastically friendly website. From my perspective you are attempting to do too much. When you have a few months of work it is common to do too much. We've all done it. We certainly have so we'd like to make some recommendations. I agree with your friends that you have too much planned. You can look back through our blogs and see that we spent 2 months in Australia.[blogger=42569] It was not enough time but we got a good look around. Australia is very expensive and will eat your budget quickly-- so will Japan. I'm glad you have family in Perth. That will help. If it were me I'd select three of the locations that you have on your list and spend more time in each of them. Which ones are the ones you want to really see. It is hard to take something off the list because you want to explore but you'll have more fun if you don't over due it. Plus you will decrease your cost by spending more time in one country and using ground transportation rather than flying all over. Cost will vary depending on how much money you spend on food, alcohol and activities. Plus if your budget is including airfare you may not make it going to all of the locations you've listed. I'm going to give you my personal opinions on some of the locations you've mentioned. These are personal opinions. Thailand = starting point = 2 months There are lots of hostels and budget hotels so you can travel rather inexpensively. Great foods and markets. Mountains in the north and beaches in the south. One of our favorite places was Kanchanubari. We took a cooking class and it was a lot of fun. So very close to Thailand are Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam Looks like your plan is to stay in Singapore a week which I personally think is long enough. You've only got 3 or 4 days in Kuala Lumpur but looks like you plan on skipping the rest of the country. Malaysia is lovely. We've got some friends who just spent a month there. Please check out their blogs. [blogger=52015] This country has a great deal to offer. It looks like you are just going to big city. Is that on purpose? If you only go to Beijing you don't really see China. There is so much more to see. You could easily spend all 6 months in China. I know you don't have that in mind but maybe you should consider 6 weeks? If you are spending the money to go all the way to New Zealand and only going to Aukland it is a crime. Aukland is nice but New Zealand is an amazing country. I would tell you to stay at least 4 weeks. 1 week on the north island and 3 weeks on the south island. Again this country will cost more than some others. Let us know if you have additional questions? Good luck in planning

Thanks for replying
Hello Dave, Many thanks for the reply, I'm new to this website so wasn't sure where to ask the question, thanks for the info though. Since I wrote this blog me and my partner have actually re-thought our plans abit and have decided to leave china and Japan for the times being and visit them at a later date. We have decided to visit Thailand first for roughly 5 - 6 weeks before going on to Cambodia for 3 weeks. After that we plan on going down to Kuala lumpur?, We dont think we have enough time to visit more of Malaysia mainly down to work commitments :(. Singapore is our last destination in Asia before we go to Australia. Luckily we have some family in Australia as we have considered visiting there more in the future but again due to work commitments 2 weeks there and 1 in Sydney is all we can really afford for now. I completely agree with you that 1 week in new Zealand Isn't enough so we plan to take a north island tour that will see us visit more of the island at a fixed price with a group. Again this is all we can do for now. Lastly we plan to visit Fiji for 1 week to chill out before home. We hope to visit Australia and New Zealand in the next couple of years for alot longer but kinda hope that this first short visit will let us know if we want to see more. I really appreciate all of your advice and would love it if you could give me some info on what type of rucksack we would need I.e size wise and also how much money do you think we will need for the first part of the trip. Hope to hear from you soon.
