Harrod's!
Abby and I with the doorman! Hi Everyone,
I know that I have been a terrible correspondent lately! I am very sorry! But I wanted to give you a quick overview of my adventures from where I left off, which was the Paris Airport, check in completely down. I stood in line for two hours, at least, waiting for someone to tell us what was going on. As usual, that didn't happen. I made several friends, none from the US and all with dual citizenship, which by the way I am still baffled by. Anyway, we make it onto our flight, and flying into London Luton about 2 hours late.
Poor Abigail had to wait around for me all night. After one train ride, we were reunited! It's crazy seeing your friends in new places! Abby brought along two of her friends, Andrew and Panos so I felt very special! Then we headed for Islington, which is where Abigail lives and studies! We hopped on the tube and off we went. It was definitely a bit chilly in London, but I was happy for some different weather. That night, I was introduced to her floormates. They were a lively bunch to say the least, then
it was off to bed for an early morning!
We woke up and were off, first to Harrod's, which is crazy! That place has everything, very similar to El Corte Ingles in Barcelona, but much classier to say the least. We wandered through there a bit then went exploring London, Oxford Circus, Covent Garden, Tower Bridge, Tower of London. It was a whirlwind. Abigail introduced me to this lovely drink, Strongbow, a tasty cider! We went to a small pub, the White Lion where we played darts and hung out with Andrew and Panos. We had to save up our energy for later that night! We went to a club called the Ministry of Sound. It was similar to the clubs in Barcelona, for some reason Europe loves them some techno music... all the time. Abby and I danced the night away into the early morning.
The next day we couldn't slow down. We went and bought tickets to see Wicked that night, which we were both so excited for! I went to Westminster Abbey while Abigail went to class, wandered around Parliament and Big Ben, walked over to the London Eye, and down the Thames. When Abby
met up with me we strolled down to Buckingham Palace, then hurried back to get ready for the play.
We picked out a restaurant that we thought we could find, haha that didn't happen unfortunately. We ran into a small Italian restaurant and literally inhaled our food and ran back to the theatre, right on time! Let me just say that Wicked was fabulous! I loved and even cried a bit at the end. The actress who played Alfaba, or the Wicked Witch, was phenomenal. Abigail and I were blown away. We had amazing seats, thank you student id cards!
My excursion to London was a whirlwind and I wish I could have stayed a bit longer, but the next day, Abigail and I caught a tube to Heathrow and off to Dublin we went!
We were a bit worn out when we arrived in Dublin and decided to reward ourselves with a delicious lunch! I hadn't had chicken wings in forever and they were glorious! I also tried an Australian beer in honor of Schaffer! We decided to take in the city and signed up for a day trip through Wicklow Mountains National Park in honor
of PS I Love You, one of my favorite movies!
That evening we went into the our fave bar/restaurant of the trip, the Purty Kitchen, it had live music and was a bit more low key. The music and food and atmosphere was great for Abigail and I. We stayed out as late as we could, then went and passed out at our hostel.
Our day trip through Wicklow was my favorite part of our trip to Ireland. It was gorgeous, so green, just like all the photos. It was a bit wet and cold, but we trudged through. We had a woman in our van that hacked her lungs out which kept us entertained. Our guide was this older man who cracked jokes left and right, but mumbled most of the time so Abby and I made up some of the history as we went along. We drove through Wicklow and made our way to Glendolough, where St. Kevin founded his church. It was pretty amazing. One of my favorite parts was driving almost entirely around this man made lake right as the sun was setting. It was picturesque to say the least.

Abby and I!
the quintessential London pic! didn't realized they celebrated Halloween in Dublin and saw many costumes that night when we went out. I forgot how much I don't miss dressing up... haha. Abby and I decided to go on another little trip, to a small coastal town called Bray. It was also gorgeous, there was a huge cross at the top of this small mountain... we never made it up but tried as best we could. We went to Trinity College, St. Patrick's Cathedral, the Guinness Factory and I found stores with both Hackett and McCormack in the names! I was pretty excited about that. I definitely want to take a tour throughout Ireland, it is such a beautiful place!
