Well, it isn't Egypt or Morocco, Asia or even Australia this time guys. I thought I would start our journal with something a little closer to home. I can't believe that I have only just realised that such a beautiful walking trail is right on the doorstep of where I work! It is called Bryanston Woods and located within the gorgeous 400 acre grounds of a private school on the River Stour at Blandford St Mary in Dorset. I try to walk there every day...well at least while the sun is shining! The grounds are absolutely buzzing with wildlife and the bird song at this time of the year is fantastic. Squirrels and rabbits dash about in the trees and undergrowth respectively and big fat bumble bees and pretty butterfies wander from flower to flower without a care in the world. Graceful swans glide on the river with the cattle grazing in the lush pastures beyond. Just grogeous! I have heard that there may be little bats and even otters in the area, but haven't been lucky enough to see any as yet. Peering through the trees, you are treated to a lovely view back towards the pretty Georgian market town of Blandford. It is hard to believe how high you actually climb in what seems such a short distance!
