This is a circular walk of about 4.5 miles, taking 1.5-2 hours. It has some very steep hills to climb but some fantastic views.

Take the Shaftesbury road out of Child Okeford. After the very last house on the left, you will see this footpath marked OS 838130

Take either path (I prefer the righthand one).

After the gate, the is a board with info about Hambledon Hill

A steep climb here. The path leads to the left.

Continue up the path.

Until you reach the first level of the earthworks.

Then take a shorter steep path to the secon level.

Take the path to the left.

Keep following the path round the side of the hill.

Until you reach this gate.

Continuing on this path brings you to a triangulation point. This was the site of a neolithic camp. Turn left here.

Follow the path down the hill.

Until you come to this sign. Left will take you to the village of Iwerne Courtenay (Shroton), while right will continue your walk.

Turn right after the gate up this steep hill.
