My Turn

Well he did promise that I would get a turn and as he wrote a novel with one finger yesterday and steam was coming out of the computer, I had to leave it until today. My dearly beloved is being very kind to me by knocking a year off my age, or is he just dreaming of a younger model I ask myself. He is getting to that time of life (difficult age).
I'll try and fill in the gaps. We popped into the Yokshire Dales, Malham Cove to be precise. The visitor centre said that there were Peregrine falcons nesting so we thought that we would get into Bill Oddie mode again. As we walked along our eyes scouring the skies to see nothing but raindrops and crows we came across a twitcher. I asked if he'd seen the falcons. He said he had and within a flash he got his equipment out pointed it in the right direction and lo and behold there was a scary bird of prey at the end of it. Mission accomplished.
Too much rain in Yorkshire so we headed on to the Lakes. Paddled around a small section of Windermere then on to the less visited Wast Water. Nik was driving, I started to have palpitations and feeling sick but we got there. Our aim was to climb Scafell Pike, which we managed through the cloud and rain and not one SAS troup in sight (by the way Nik was slightly exaggerating). At one stage Nik had to stop for a call of nature and thought he could see a Yak plodding towards him until I informed him that it was one of the local Herdwick sheep.
Just as well we took spare trousers with us.
Next stop Ben Nevis. No doubt it will be shrouded in cloud and raining.
