What an amazing day!
We woke up fairly early. Breakfast was bread. Meagan would've loved that!
Liz and Monica went sky diving.
Me, Liza, Michelle and Jackie on the other hand went canyon swinging. OMG! It was the most amazing experience of my life. I can't believe I did it! I was attached to a rope on a wire and free fell into a gorge and swung. We were picked up in a van by a cute Swiss German named Hans or Heinz (I don't remember which). We rode 20-30 minutes in a tin box up a mountain where the world skiing championship was. We were going so fast I though we were going to crash and burn in the snow. We passed gorgeous mountains of course. There was a point thought where we couldn't be in the death trap of a bus. The rest of the way was a long haul up a mountain. It was a beautiful white forest with trees bending they were so heavy with snow. There was a tree covered in ice where the van was parked too. The snow came up past my boots. I kinda sank into it. It was
a long haul and I was so nervous. It smelt like horses for a bit 😊 then, as Hans/Heinz so nicely it put it, it smelt like "pure Swiss cow shit." Not quite as pleasant. Then we get to this ledge. I thought that's what we were jumping off of, but no that's just were we were weighed and signed our lives away. Our lives were put into the of one Ziggy (and no he doesn't play guitar). He looked like Richard from the beach: tan, blonde dread locks, dirty and like he'd done too much acid. Then we went to get our harnesses. They were actually really comfy. I liked the snug feeling. We then walked to this other platform. There was a red rope that ran across the canyon and thought that we jus attached ourselves to that and zipp-lined down kind of but that was definitely not the case. This red rope was attached to us and a cable and we went straight down. I was the last one to go. Jackie cried. It was so cute. Liza was nervous. Kristen, Shannon and Kayleigh also went with us and Tom the Australian went before us. They did
Hooters?
Apparently they have these in Europe. (I thought of you Pop)
amazingly, just went. I already mentioned Jack and Liza. I was so proud of them for going! I was proud of Michelle too because she was scared, but she did it anyway. The girls below Jackie said she looked like she was running and her jacket looked like a cape. I wish I could've seen it. My turn came. The whole time I waited I was nervous/excited. I knew I was going to do it. I had to. It cost me 129 CHF. lol. Anyway I thought I would be scared and not want to do it, just dangle off the edge a bit and freak out, but I didn't. I was calm and cool. I think I didn't believe I was doing it. I couldn't see anything in front of me. My mind was blank. I closed my eyes and walked off. Ziggy connected me to the rope and when he let go it felt heavy, but I was ready. It just felt right and I walked off and I fell. I held onto that rope for dear life though don't get me wrong, but once I felt that rope tug I knew I was okay and opened my
eyes and what a view! That's when I started screaming. I don't think I ever screamed so much in my life. I was swinging through snow and rock. I almost lost my hat, but luckily I caught it. I felt reborn. It was exhilarating. My adrenalin didn't kick in till I was on the platform and it took over on the fall. It was amazing, invigorating, what have you. I've never felt so alive. I felt invincible, like the Black Knight in Monty Python's Holy Grail. lol. It's definitely the most cathartic experience of my life. O! I forgot to mention I couldn't get the harness up over my butt! It was too tight. I was struggling for a good little while. Ziggy loosened it for me though so it would come up. On the way to the van we walked through a tunnel that had icicles growing out of the ground like stalagmites. On the ride back we found out that Hans/Heinz was a trainer for the skiing world championship for a good number of years, went surfing in Sri Lanka, had a friend who died base jumping and imported a quarterhorse to breed with local swiss horses. Very
