Edit Blog Post
It has been a while seen I last wrote on my blog. But I have been busy doing stuffs. You might wonder what: well lot of stuff. Plus we had a lovely month of September and October. So I had to get out to play in the sun and eat all the ice cream I could. There was a Movenpick ice cream truck near the lake. Don't say Movenbrick or the Swiss will laugh at you (true story…). Then I discovered one in Carouge. I like wondering around in Carouge on a sunny afternoon, it's lovely. The atmosphere there is relaxed and there is way less tourist than in the city centre. And the gelato here are really good. I will make this spot on the 'place du Marché' my hang out next summer.
I also picked a sport = kyudo. What is it? Japanese martial art of archery or the way the bow. I wanted to take on archery again because I really did like it when I was in St Andrews. The side of that sport I appreciated the most was having to empty your mind and concentrate on every of your movement when you face the target.
I thought I would find that part more in Japanese traditional archery. And now, after a month or so of practice, I can tell you I was right. Kyudo is all about concentration and body awareness. Also, it is much more difficult than regular archery. I will probably write more about Kyudo soon.
I also went to the charming little town of Thun (south of Bern) for a conference. Conferences are always fun and great to meet people. This time I got to encounter the Swiss virology scene.
May I ask you: what a better way to mark the end of summer than going to see the transhumance in Annecy. The main attraction was the cattle crossing the town centre. We saw few ships and many cows. It was rather amusing. After the 'show', we had an ice cream (it was just about warm enough for one) and a walk around town. Annecy centre is very pretty.
