All light up! This is in the heart of the town where all the shops and restaurants are located.

Let's get settled! Then, we'll TRAVEL

Haven't had time to sit down and write the past couple of days, but I'll try to recap to the best of my ability. Saturday we went around Lugano buying all the necessities for living here. After buying as much as we could carry back up the enormous hill to the Mont. Brie and I headed back. The only thing we were unable to find was clothing hangers, but to our surprise a little boutique we were passing had a box of hangers and a note that said "free" in Italian! We got so excited and quickly picked out as many as we could shove in our shopping bags, laughing the whole time at how silly we must look! We didn't care and gave the woman inside a friendly wave as we continued on to our new home.

A little later on we got dinner at Il Cantinone with some other girls on the trip and one of the 3 boys, Jake. I ate some amazing pasta and drank a couple glasses of Pinot Grigio- what a perfect Italian meal! We came back to the mont., got ready with all of our new euro

appliances, and headed to "Peter Pan," the closet bar to the Montarina and the only one that does not require us to walk down the hill (and then back up the hill later). It was pretty chill and it was fun to meet more people in my program. Brie and I split a pitcher of Braugold, the lightest beer on tap, and it was 12 francs total. It was exactly what we wanted, so we were excited to have found something we liked right off the bat! The whole time they were mostly playing American music and we thought that was so funny! The night ended with us becoming acquainted with some local boys who couldn't speak any English, experiencing new Euro techno songs that are sure to become favorites, and taking jager bombs with the bartender! Needless to say- it was a great first night out 😊

The next morning we woke up early to meet with 4 Swiss students from U.S.I who were going to take us to Locarno, a town about an hour away from Lugano. It was our first time riding the train, and we were all excited to explore! When we arrived we grabbed

some quick lunch. I had my first experience with international McDonald's, and I must say, it was like eating a little piece of home! haha! Except for the fact that it is much more expensive and you have to pay for ketchup! NOT COOL! But my chicken nuggets had me feeling like a brand new person after a somewhat rough morning, and I was ready for the rest of the day.

We headed towards a cable car that would be taking us up to the top of a mountain. The ride up seemed almost unreal, and when we were finally at the top, the views were even more beuatiful than I could have ever imagined. There was a 600 year old cathedral and monument called the "Madonna del Sasso." After looking around we walkied down the mountain and headed towards the center of town. They had an outdoor ice-skating rink set-up. It had been a long day, so when we finally got back to the Montarina I was so excited for my bed!

The next day the Swiss students came back to take us down to the Lake Lugano and to see more of the parts of Lugano

we still had not seen. It was a gorgeous day for walking, and I took so many pictures. We tried amazing hot chocolate called "ciccolata densa" which means something along the lines of thick hot chocolate. It tasted like a snack pack heated up, and we all loved this drink!

We are planning our first weekend of traveling and have booked hostels in both Interlaken and Lucerne, Switzerland! They both sound amazing and I can't wait to experience more of Switzerland! CIAO LOVERS, more soon!
