Grüetzi!!!
Some photos and stories from summer 2009, when my family (minus one brother) and I went to Switzerland for a week. While in Zurich, Switzerland, we took many day trips across country, France and Liechtenstein.
Zurich: Great city with lots of things to see and do. One of my favorite activities was swimming at Oberer Letten, one of the main rivers. When the weather gets warm, people swim here throughout the day. They come to exercise and swim up and down the river, while others chill out in the afternoon sun in water tubes. It's a great sight to see, even if you're just relaxing along the river.
Charmonix, France: At Charmonix you can find the highest peak of the Alps, the Mont Blanc @ 4,810m (15,781ft). It is possible to hike to the top, but it is mainly suitable for serious, well-equipped and experienced hikers. No fear though, the little town of Charmonix is quite experienced with tourists of all sorts. There are plenty of other activities to do and, as always, lots of restaurants with great food.
Malbun, Liechtenstein: Definitely one of my favorite places. Liechtenstein is a small country so it's fairly easy
to get around. Malbun is truly worth visiting and is located 1,600m (5,250ft) up. Once there, you can do some great hiking, be sure to bring lots of water and a good pair of hiking boots (among other things), but those two in my opinion are extremely crucial. We did some decent hiking, up to 3,500m (11,500ft) and even found some snow at that level. Malbun is pretty small with a couple dozen houses, some hotels and restaurants. There is one restaurant in particular with amaaazing food!! One of my favorites dishes on the menu was their Garlic Soup, absolutely delicious and not nearly as potent as you would expect it to be. All in all, Malbun is definitely worth a visit!!
Alright, so this was a shorter blog, but I wanted to get these photos and travels out on the blog before I leave for
Sierra Leone in 12 days and counting! So stayed tuned 😊)
