Hey, big news this time... I've got somewhere to live!!! And it's pretty cool, a ground floor apartment with a couple of Swiss girls (who have a taste for red wine and understand a Kiwi accent).
It's great, i've got a room - stoked!
The girls are pretty relaxed, and fully subscribe to the Swiss tradition of filling the house with plants - the kitchen's covered in creepers, and their rooms resemble micro jungles. I was dreading having to get used to an upper floor apartment disassociated in all but noise from the outside world, but this area's
really green, and we have a small deck that opens out to the lawn in the back 😊 After a year and a half on the move, even getting lost in Ikea with armloads of essentials (curtains, lights, and a stereo of course) wasn't the consumer nightmare it could've been!
Other than that, i've been pretty slack and most other news is a bit out of date.. There's another couple of Kiwis on campus, looking after geophysics projects in NZ, and the one or two UK residents who've been keen to watch the r***y down at the pub.. unfortunately there
Autumn trees
Outside my office are
WAY more french here, and we were forced to make one of the most awkward exits from a pub I've ever had to rush together :/ Still, it could be worse, I think I got out of the UK at the right time...
Thomas, a fellow T+T Wellington employee is living just 2km from here and we caught up for dinner the other night through the wonders of Facebook.. AND I went down to Lausanne with with Doris and a couple of her friends for a day of sightseeing.. this summer just keeps on strugging on 😊
Anyway, i've got some photos of the campus and my place and a few touristy ones so people know what Zurich looks like.. If i had to describe it in two words i'd say "no traffic". Go the public transport eh!
