Drettinge
A fine place for a fancy dinner party. Rural Vaxjo. We're actually in Markaryd in the Smaland area...
We're finally all together here at the Jonhill residence, and it's time for us to load you with pictures!
After a nice night's sleep in Ljungby, the team met at 0915 hours to travel to Markaryd. First item on our agenda was Nibe, a heat pump manufacturer. We've learned the Swedes are ahead of the curve when it comes to heat technology.
Onward to our next presentation where we decided to add a little colo(u)r (says Shana) to make it more lively! Our bravery paid off, and the Rotarians were very impressed with our vocals! (Read: Beth's vocals). Even the Canadians sang along! We get the most response when discussing the hockey rivalry between Sweden and Canada that comes to a head tomororw.
Tonight we have another fine dinner party, and if it's anything like the dinner party at the Rappe residence, Dtrettinge, it should be another memorable evening. Drettinge has been in their family since 1660 and was on land owned by Gustav Vasa. We felt like royalty as we dined in an ornately decorated dining hall and sipped champagne in the sun room. We concluded the evening
with songs, and it seems that may be the way we end most evenings (in addition to the always tasty desserts!). The Swedes are fond of singing....especially Helan Gor! 😊
