Ghost breakfast
We started our morning in a ghost café. Nobody was out, but us, and it was 6:30. We came back to the room to check on the times and saw the schedule 6.

9. Ok, we were there at 6:30. Turns out I looked at the dinner times, which I thought were the all-day times. Ooops, it didn’t open until 7. What? we are old people; we like to eat early. Ok, this is our first breakfast out since we had done room service EVERY day (not necessarily or choice). But we were not the only confused people there because when we went back up there were 5 other couples.

Following breakfast, we took a bus tour of Stockholm. Our guide seemed to have issues. Alcohol? We were glad to figure out and do the town on our own later in the day. We drove quickly past multiple sights, and if you were on the wrong side of the bus, well, tough. Then we made a 40-minute stop with no guidance and a change in bus location. Luckily there were enough smart people to help us figure out what was going on. What did we see during this stop, nothing (the outside of one building, standing in the cold wind). Not our favorite tour.

We came back to the ship for lunch and a rest before heading out to discover Stockholm on our own. We walked thru old town and the cobble stone streets. All we found there were too many of the same souvenir shops with nothing but junk and no good postcards or no noble prizes to take back for Susan’s grandsons. (We were only looking for imitations on the Nobel prizes). We saw, trolls, Viking stuff and lots of stupid American junk in store after store. How do they make a living?

Back outside the ship, Claire found a postcard and got Swedish money in exchange- for Stephanie. Then we packed and had dinner since this was our last evening. We fly home tomorrow.

It’s been a weird trip. Out of the 14 nights, 11 were in separate rooms, no shared tables for dinner even when we were out of quarantine. We attended no evening shows as we were trying to keep everyone else safe even though few others were trying to do their part. We miss not being able to see Tallin, St Petersburg and Helsinki. The replacement ports were nice but definitely not equal to what we missed.

Until next time. I hope you enjoyed. I hope you don’t have another post from this trip. That would mean we are stuck somewhere because of travel problems.
