We drove 40k west to a camper stop on the outskirts of Bilbao with panoramic views over the city.

After lunch we took a bus in to the centre, had a wander around the old town and then along the river to the main reason for our visit, the Museo Guggenenheim of modern art housed in its astounding building designed by Frank Gehry. We wondered how the architect worked out the geometry of the many curves in its glazing and titanium cladding. It’s a gargantuan sculpture in itself and we thought generally overshadows the artworks it contains.
