Today we are driving north of here to the coastal town of Denia. In the centre of the city is a 17th century Renaissance style castle, on the site of an earlier Moorish fortress. Our first stop was coffee and then we set off to find the castle. Again the problem of very poor signage in Spain when trying to find historical attractions! After wandering up a few steep cobbled streets in the heat of the day we finally arrived at the castle. It is a handsome reminder of the town's historic importance when the Moors ruled this part of Spain. From Denia we headed south along a coastal road to a pretty little town called Moraira. It had a lovely beach area where we enjoyed soaking our feet. We also enjoyed a lovely lunch of calamari and a seafood salad. It was a beautiful costal drive back to our home in Albir.
