¡HOLA! from madrid. dont have much time but ill try to write more later! also roz camera out of batteries so your stuck with my dud photos....from brugges we headed to the begium capital of brussels. very much a typical capital city, big, busy, lots to see and do. visited the eu headquarters and the statue of the peeing boy, went out for karaoke and belgian beer, ate lots of french fries, etc etc. i love belgium it has sucha nice feel to it. from brussels we had one night in luxembourg, it pretty much poured for 36 hours and we went on a 4k hike in the rain with our packs! beautiful scenery, horrible muscle pain! overnight train to munich where we were camping for oktoberfest, met up with james manning again, it was FREEZING. actually 0 degrees freezing. oktoberfest is crazy fun, its a big carnival with billions of people and heaps of delicious food and rides and obviously beer. but we didnt actually get into a tent because they pack out at like 10am so we went to a cute pub with munich locals instead which was lovely! while there also did a walking tour and visited the ex concentration camp dachau, the former great, the latter very depressing but definately something everyone should see. bit sad to leave germany which is one of my favourite countries but very excited to head into switzerland. couchsurfed two nights each in bern and geneva, both with wonderful hosts. bern is another unesco listed city, surpirsingly beautiful and sedate for a capital, but so clean (you can drink out of the fountains!) and lovely. geneva we went to the UN (OMG IT WAS SO EXCITING) and the red cross museum and wandered by the stunning and huge lake. from there we headed into france (yay france!) and stayed in marsielle and nice on the french riviera. both very beautiful, marsielle had a really mediterranean feel, street markets, docks, it was hot finally and we went to the beach! nice full of tourists but very nice (haha..) some more swimming, i got stung by a jellyfish, went rollerblading along the beach, great views from the panorama mountain thing. we then headed to barcelona and madrid, two very different sides of spain, love both. barcelona mostly for the architecture, madrid just because it is so bustling and busy and interesting and fun! but

ha ha ha ha
Just read your latest blog and am laughing so hard I just might pee my pants (not very lady like for a mum I know - but hey tell it like it is, is always a good motto). Emma being buried in the sand (rocks) brought back old memories of tying to do this with her and her sister (sarah) when they were small - it was a disaster then and seems to be a disaster still!!!!! LOVE YOU GIRLS DEB (MUM) xoxoxoxoxox
