So after a few days of indolence by the pool and a goodly amount of catch up on reading books we took to the road and given the breeze decided to go into the hills.

First stop was Medina Sidonia - lovely medieval hilltop town. Home of the Dukes of the same name - the 12th Duke having led the Spanish Armada out of Cadiz towards invading England.

Beautiful town though hard work on the knees when the only car park is so low down. Worth it for the views from on top. Magnificent panoramas right across to the coast up to Cadiz and over into the mountains.

Wonderful church of Santa Maria de la mayor with stunning nave and side chapel in gold and silver decoration.

After a further wander lunch on the hilltop with panorama views to accompany the squid, chicken and lovely salad.

Then a drive into the National Park in the mountains to see the lakes, but hugely frustrating all fenced off no public access at all which is a real shame and wasted opportunity..
