I thought this photo looked very 'dictatorship/warring country'-esqe, when in actuality it is a man taking a break to watch a religious parade.

the statues were so heavy that they had to stop every couple hundred feet and switch who was carrying it.

a woman came out onto her balcony and sang a mourning, eerie song about jesus. Out of all of the marches, this was the part that gave me the most chills..

her with the statue beneath her. While she was singing, the whole march stopped, the band stopped playing, and the whole crowd was silent.

the band was in front of us during one of the breaks, so I got some close up photos of them

these members carried crosses as a form of penance

but the hoods weren't that well constructed, so I think it took them as much effort to keep them on as it did to carry the crosses

I wanted to do a shot from the other shoulder, looking down the cross, but I didn't feel like jumping into the parade (even though lots of people did to take photos)

I really don't understand Europe's obsession with creepy balloons. At least get legit Hello Kitty balloons instead of sub par knockoffs!
