This isn't the first time I have been to Slovenia, although the preposition "to" is perhaps misleading. Back in the days of 2007, I travelled through Slovenia en route from Venice to Pula, but never set foot on Slovenian soil - i.e. I never got off the bus. Hi, Most of you will have been directed here by me - if so, thanks for coming. If not, thanks for coming anyway. I am Derek - a Kiwi who in June 2007, set off on a 4 1/2 month sortie around Europe via the USA, and set up this blog so that friends, family and randoms could keep track of where I had been to, and of the shenanigans I inevitably got up to. This Could Be New Zealand

Could easily be somewhere in the South Island, but it's not - it's Lake Bohinj.

Davies Chillin' On The Beach

Lake Bohinj. There was diving platform in the middle of the lake as well, which was fun.

Climbers Statue

Monument to the first four climbers to climb Mt. Triglav, which is just around the corner from Bohinj.

Open-air rotunda thingee at the restaurant we ate at in Bled.

Nice enough, but nothing to write home about.

I miss Slovenia...
Hi Derek, nice blog, I visited Bled in 2008 and it seems to have become even more expensive...But I got quite addicted to the Kremšnita, which you refer to as Bled cake. So yummy! Slovenia is a very underrated destination in my opinion. Cheers, Jens
