Our final Danube city after another four hour hydro-foil ride was Bratislava. After Vienna and Budapest it had a distinctly 'after the Lord-Mayor's show' feel about it....but once we got under the skin of the place it certainly had character. No where on this trip was the old soviet era more evident in the concrete tower blocks and factory chimneys, although the Historic Centre has had a bundle of EEC money spent on it, and is charming.
