Arrival to Cascais

We woke early, gathered up our stuff and headed out. The train station was too far for walkkng, so we caught a taxi. We got there pretty early, but we had wanted to make sure we left enough time to find a ride.
The train seats were spacious, and the ride was uneventful. We had to switch trains once arriving in Lisbon, and then after our train stop, we walked about 30 min to where we caught an urban train to Cascais. The walk was really nice, along the waterfront.
We got the urban train and then followed google maps. For this stop, we have a private room at Ljmonade Eco Hostel. The hostel is very nice, it looks like maybe an old home that has been converted.
We got settled, then went for a walk to pick up some fruits and vegetables from a nearby market that we had spotted earlier. Then we went back out to find our way to the sea. We passed through a cute area with restaurants and shops, and decided to stop for an early dinner. I had some great salmon, and got to practice some Portuguese.
After dinner, we thought we'd walk to the grocery store chain, Intermarche, that we discovered has really good ice cream bars that are their own brand. It was showing as about a 50 min walk, we dwcided it was worth it.
Most of the walk, we could use the promenade along the sea, which was beautiful. Once we got to Intermarche, we picked up a few basics, and the ice cream bars. They come in a box of 4. It's fairly cool here, but it's a pretty long walk. We decided to each eat one at the grocery store, and see if the other 2 would survive the walk home. Unfortunately, they were melted by the time we got back, and then when we thought about trying to refreeze, we discovered the communal kitchen just has a fridge no freezer section. Moral of the story? It's better to eat 2 ice cream bars at a time, instead of saving one for another day 😊
