Hello, well you'll all be glad to know Im here save and sound.
My grandad put me under orders to get a taxi to the airport, apparently you can't trust the buses at that time of the morning. So I got picked up at 7. Luckily the taxi driver wasn't the talky type because I'd stayed up late to watch skins and glee so wasn't really in the talking mood.
I didn't get checked in by Mikey, did get chatted up by some bloke selling raffle tickets though. But I did see Mikey towards the end of his shift. the plane ride passed fairly uneventfully. I read about 200 pages of New Moon and was that absorbed in it I didn't notice we were about to land and jumped out of my skin when we hit the floor.
While waiting for the shuttle bus to take me to the train station I noticed a display saying it was -2, then it started snowing a bit. I got to the city centre fairly quickly (speaking of fairly quickly Krakow airport are dead quick at getting your bags on to the returny thing). I debated trying to walk to the hostel, but my bag was heavy so I got a tram. The tram here are brilliant, they look like something from the 1950's but are really modern on the inside. I think people in Poland must be pretty trusting because no one on the tram or train check my ticket.
I accidently stayed on the tram a stop too long, but it was only an extra couple of mins. Amy 'top travel tip of the day'= when carrying a heavy bag on your shoulder put your hair up, otherwise it gets stuck and hurts. The hostel's big compared to the one I stayed in during Rome- both in the building size and the room size. You get a massive locker and a free shot too. Although I did bang my head on the bunk above mine.
After dropping the massive bag off I decided to go for a wander to get my bearing and stuff for when I come back after Krakow. So I wandered down to the river then up to the main square. Theres so many beautiful buildings that wouldnt look out of place in Spain or Italy. I've found a pub that plays lots of English and Spainish football, so thats probably were I'll be when Liverpool play on thursday. Mum- Ive found a pub that does murphys too.
I thought Id be brave and eat in a proper resturant by myself and order some poliosh food. I had chicken and georgian cheesse lansazw, which is a bit like a wrap with chicken, cheese, lettuce and pickles in. It was ok. I had a lovely bread roll thingy when I first got here that was ony about 30p so I think I might just live off them for breakfast and lunch.
After eatting I went to try and find a road called 'anny road'- it was on the map Im not just being really strange. But the cold got to me so I headed back. I did find a 'indigo pub' though.
The plan for the rest of the night is to just hang out in the hostel's bar then get a fairly early night then head to the main train station to get a train to Krakow-hopefully it'll be fairly simple.
Love
Amy
