Out and about.
hitting up the town on hoorn. you can see the traffic and bike lanes. along the road. GOING ONCE, GOING TWICE, SOLD!
(we felt like today was a good day to blow some money and do some shopping.)
DAY SIX:Today we had organised it so that we could go to the markets on Saturday in Hoorn and do lots of shopping and check out the markets. Hoorn has a very busy vibe about it, and because the markets are only once a week it gets pretty hectic. Oma had her own little shopping list that she took because she doesn't go out into town to often she wanted to take full advantage of being there. Mum was there just to have a look around and i was there for SHOPPING!.. We arrived and parked the car only a couple blocks from the market, so it was a small walk. We had to cross the main road, and the was the first experience since being back in Holland with all the traffic and bikes and just how crazy it was as well. You had to press the traffic button, for the green man to cross the road, then press the traffic button, for the green man to cross the bike path, then press it
my charming photography.
captured a bit of love in hoorn, aswell as a nice street shot. :) again for the rest of the road and we still managed to get to the footpath and nearly get run over by more cyclists.
Firstly, before we made our way to the markets, we stopped at 'Het Kroonjuweel Resturant' for a coffee just because i insisted. I was still sorta waking up from the night before. But a coffee definitely helped! from there we walked along the market stalls They were all reasonably big selling shoes and bags, lollies and meats. Walking down the footpath there were stalls all along the left, and still normal shops all along the right. So like i said before it was pretty crowded.. We did a lap of all the shops, before we just couldn't go one and we stopped for food. Lunch was at the 'Grand cafe Winston' in the town central i had a Carpaccio on a baguette with another coffee. The Carpaccio is a dish with a raw sort of really thinly sliced meat and then it was topped with cheese and lettuce, sun-dried tomatoes and onion. It was really delicious, but i was so hungry as well! After we'd all finished lunch and it began to spit a little,
the market life..
here you can see the stalls along the left, and the red chairs there belong to a furniture shop. we decided we would keep on going. Walking into all the shops we were trying to grasp the trends that would come to Australia because it's Summer in Holland, so all the trends now will come to Australia in our summer. LISTEN UP GUYS, JACKETS WITH TAILS ARE COMING IN! they look quite strange.
After a bit more shopping, we stopped for a juice and a cold drink. Then we grabbed some lollies from the stall next to us to take back home and headed back to the car. Shopping wise it was a pretty poor effort but it was really nice to spend the day with oma, having seen her the last 4 days she was probably sick of us by now. But she wasn't done with us yet..
..we had to her joint birthday brunch tommorow. So she was yet to see more of us. haha
