Week 3: Amsterdam

I'm glad I'm going back to work tomorrow, so I can recover a bit from my time off.

Now that I'm meeting more people, things are getting busier and busier. The past week went like this:

Monday: Laundry day with a side of MASH on Netflix



Tuesday: Soccer with a group of co-workers. It's pretty embarrassing to be an out-of-shape North American in a group of European regular players. Time to find a gym :-/



Wednesday: Rishabh's birthday party; I didn't think you could fit that many people in that size apartment, but I'm glad we did. Strike 1 for my liver. https://goo.gl/maps/2eQvn



Thursday: Quiz night at O'Casey's Irish Pub. It was nice to decompress in a place where people were speaking english. It was an Irish expat place, so I couldn't understand half the words, but it was nice. Strike 2 for my liver. https://goo.gl/maps/Muf3V



Friday: Pub Discovery Tour (PDT) at Havana, a cuban themed place. PDT is a weekly event by the local CB&I people where we meet up and find interesting pubs around the city. It's a great way to meet people that you wouldn't normally meet. Unfortunately, it's also strike 3 for my liver. I'm so glad to have Ukrainian ancestry. https://goo.gl/maps/fdzvU



Saturday/Sunday: Off to Amsterdam with Nathan Polowick. It was a little awkward travelling around the city as two guys on Valentine's day, but it's Amsterdam so whatever :D Places we went:


• Nemo Science Center https://goo.gl/maps/QZHMy Cool place, but more of a young family oriented place.
• Rijksmuseum / Museumplein https://goo.gl/maps/yDb2f The national museum of the Netherlands. A new exhibition on the late works of Rembrandt opened up, so the lines were huge
• In de Wildeman https://goo.gl/maps/kk8Zf Hole in the wall local pub with 250+ types of beer on the menu. Bring friends. Strike 4.
• Heineken Experience https://goo.gl/maps/MYqyk A tour of the original Heineken brewery (now converted to a museum). Tasting sessions included. Strike 5 - I'm a very sleepy man.
• Canal Boat Cruise https://goo.gl/maps/2a4rM A nice way to wind down before heading home.


It's been a long week, so time for bed.
