Millions of Bikes (and Dikes) populate Amsterdam
I'd be speaking absolute sh*t if I said we chose Amsterdam as the destination to kick start our holiday for the purpose of visiting the Anne Frank Museum. It was a much more celebrated part of their culture that tempted us... the bicycles.

Hiring a bicycle meant we could weave in between the beautiful city canals without fuss (well, as soon as we mastered the reverse pedal brake system.) My two travel buddies - Azz and Azz carved it up on the two wheeled machines ensuring I kept up with them, and saw as much of the city as humanly possible.

A morning coffee (shop visit) seemed to be what Amsterdamites enjoyed first thing - so not wanting to offend, we were happy to adhere to their rather profound culture.

After a rather random bout of paranoia hit Azz (Connolly) - he believed a cleaner in McDonalds was trying to pick pocket him - he assumed sleep was a better option, over a late night stroll down an infamous district bathed in red. School boy error Azz. I'd always been a fan of late night shopping and this packed part of town was a tourist hot spot. But,

This doesnt look nearly as gay as what it actually felt
rest assured, whilst it made fascinating window shopping, they did market their products to a despondently desperate crowd, and since I didn't fit that description, no purchase was made.

Sore eyes, carefree attitudes, and empty pockets (even sorer eyes) allowed for further sublime living after a trip to the local Naturopath provided us with some herbal advice (dont worry Mum - it was elnatural*). And only after my body finished going toe-to-toe with my mind in a game of kiss-chasey did the buzz and hum of the evening turn to morning, and when it did, we started all over again. Yes, we were in Amsterdam, and I was happy to be there.



*Nothing illegal was consumed whilst visiting the Netherlands
