tell the truth about drugs in Amsterdam amazing how one day can rather affect your stay. I will not say I am over Amsterdam just because of one "different" meal - it was quite nice at the time- but it and the light to heavy rain later today did rather do so. After blogging/watching telly on the huge screen in my room to all hours (won't be the case tonite) I had to set one of my alarms to get up for breakfast which finishes at 10. However my digestive tract called me to the toilet before then. Went downstairs and had my usual breakfast of granola and some toast and jam and tea - returned to my room where that came up about 15 mins later! At least I knew that was going to be it. Maybe the change from otherwise "bland" French, Swiss, Belgian food to Asian spices and flavours was a little "abrupt" ? Decided that some R&R in my room should be the go for a wee while. As it faces onto an internal courtyard/well - and it has been pretty grey anyway, you cannot really tell almost what time of day it is or what the weather is doing. Just as well I

did not tempt me in did not have to move on today. So early afternoon after resting up and staying close to the toot finally ventured out - mostly to get the red bike back to the man in the street behind before 2pm. He did indeed tell me that we are talking the Rolls Royce of bikes here - 700E?. Told him it was a very nice ride - but having not ridden for a long time and I think the somewhat uptilted seat had given me a sore bum by Day 2 (not that I had time to ride anywhere much at all today as was light rain - OK for Amsterdammers but not for me.
Had decided I would book myself onto a half day tour into the countryside for tomorrow - gotta see a windmill and cheese making in the wild somewhere as this will be all I will see of Holland. Bought a one hour canal trip as well as van Gogh musee tikt - considered doing the canals then but then it began to rain quite heavily. Sheltered for a while thne checked out some shops then back to hotel for a furtehr rest for a couple of

def. required a health warning! that close to pure alcohol as..... hours. Bought a couple of bananas as a test run and one stayed one while I stayed in my room and half slept for 2 hrs or so.
Then out for dinner - had seen a Dutch resto earlier (there I was thinking they were all Argie the national cuisine!) and green pea soup at least sounded the ticket. It was called Out Zeeland - Old Holland and I followed that with a beef stew with apples (not sure where they went) and mashed potato which also sounded good recovery food. It was served with a side dish of carrot "jewels" (round and spun to peel them and turn them into little baubles) with some very dark brown (sauerkraut?) and a small salad. The food was OK but lets say I was not up to a huge meal. It was decorated in Very Olde Worlde red gingham style kinda way. Went for a bit of a walk to settle that and that's about it.
I am not put off Amsterdam just by that but I don't find it as attractive as say Paris and 4 nights here is prob quite enough as not into the smoking coffee shops

with a thing about collector's bottles and all that gear. I did some of the Red Light area by accident the other night but nothing even soft core - was able to give these two guys on the street very general directions tonight when they asked me.
There are few photos today for obvious reasons! wet and not out much....

Spicy tucker!
Hi Mike, The road trip tucker blues, hope you are over it now. Some totally unique liqour bottles/vehicles there in photo's. The "Tommy Gun" one, could be handy at the Wild man pub. The red flame-thrower bike must be Roll's type at that price. Love Huddo and girls.
