Amsterdam - Sun July 5 & Mon July 6

Well, we arrived safely yesterday, Sunday, in Amsterdam to a sunny and warm day. We came right away to our apartment (the loft of a flat that has 49 stairs that get progressively smaller as you go up!). Glad we packed light! Very nice and comfortable and very close to the downtown - just a 10 minute walk. We tried to stay awake as long as possible yesterday and mangaged to do a fair bit of walking about before we couldn't go any longer. We took a 2 hr rest and then headed out to dinner at a nice Spanish restaurant just down the road from our apartment. Tapas and Rioja on night one - not bad! We then came back and slept for 9 hours. We feel great this morning and are off for a full day -- canal tour, museums, and whatever else catches our fancy. Will check in later.
