The three Lake Amigos (slightly wetter)
Had a reasonably good sleep though snoring wars between myself and Nick are still not fully resolved. John joined the fray but was pitiful and he slept soundly albeit a bit of footsie was fun. My sunburn kicked in just great...deep red down my left or right side of my leg. The journey to Taurage was quite eventful as we left the lake after a photoshoot on the jetty. The roads were hilly then started to level out. We are getting the hang of the roads and working together...drain, pothole, no road! and we are generally good. We went to Silale and had a great lunch in a greasy spoon cafe - steak and cheese. We kicked off at 20mph after that. We met up with Rimus (chaplian from army base) and he escorted us to the army base. It was about 16km out of Taurage and when the road turned into a dirt track I decided to take a dive and have a sand and gravel bath. This was uncomfortable but made sure I gained loads of attention as my right elbow looked a mess and my bike was looking dishevelled. The medics at the camp looked after me and

Us in the Army Officers mess.
I was able to drink an alcoholic beverage made of Brandy and Sprite, three lagers, two shots of Whiskey (Moonshine) plus a shot of Brandy. After riding 80 miles I was a little dehydrated and the alcohol went straight to my head...all seemed to go well though. The sargeant major and his daughter who we came to see were great hosts and the meal was a real treat. The trip on the APC (Armoured Personnel Carrier) was cool too. We finished off with a few beers outside our hotel on the banks of a river where I got bitten by every Mosquito within a 30 mile radius. Sunburn, mosquito bites, a grazed and strapped up arm...how I looked forward to the next days ride to Kaunus.
