Kaunas - Lietuva - location update

just across the road from the bus station - very handy - and as train is some furtehr distance away bus to Vilnius is def. the go from here.

After previous night in Klaipeda I went by train 3 hrs after very early breakfast, to Siaulai and the Hill of Crosses - its a pilgrimage sorta place with a small hill just covered with crosses. Bit underwhelming in terms of size - but its the details - thousands of crosses on every inch of it. Met on the train an Aussie woman/orig. Kiwi bloke on the train, Mark and Asher who now live in East Anglia and were
visiting her Lithuanian rels. nr Klaipeda. Good to share the cost of a taxi out there - 12kms out of town - then I got return to town with them as driver came back to get us - woudl never have got back otherwise! then another 3 hr bus trip to Kaunas - so long day travel with an early start. The 3 star hotel Magna - new not in LP (65AUD - more expensive than flasher one last, only 60) is just over
the road from the bus station so for convenience I chose this - even though I was running it close on the money.

will take a trolley up to the old town now for a few hours and leave bag here (noon chekouts - iz good!) and then collect and walk over road and get bus - its rarely that easy! (certainly not in Vilnius)

then bus - frequent - to capital Vilnius tomorrow.

Doing this on free internet in the lobby at hotel - as not free in room, but you can pay for it - $2.50 for an hour so this is only positional update no pix.
