Writing this post lunch as tomorrow we leave for Pompeii on the east coast & it's a fair trek of around 200 km. (Ooh, I kid ye not – Frankie Howard, Up Pompeii! for those too young to know what I'm talking about)

Sunday as expected was rammed! Cars were piling in from about 7.30am – so we stuck around Billy for the day, dozed, put a new inner tube in Cathy's bike & a few little jobs. We've been to beach & swam plenty of times since though. We had a home made pizza made by Luigi in the restaurant that evening – it was “delicious” Arthur!

Yesterday morning we took the bikes to the nearest small town about 6 miles away as Cathy wanted to find a hairdressers – we both need a haircut. We went in the morning as it was cooler ie 35* rather the predicted 39* Well, it was fine whilst we were pedalling but when we stopped & drank we looked like we been in the shower fully clothed. I have never been so hot or soaked since a 1 hour badminton marathon match years ago except the heat just didn't go away. I think we drank a litre whist we were out & about 3 litres when we got back. Mad dogs & Englishmen....

In the afternoon someone was whisked off in an ambulance from the beach – no doubt heat exhaustion.

Today, I put the bikes back on the rack, washed the bbq etc ready for the move on tomorrow & then down the beach. When we walked back for lunch our Italian neighbour beckoned us over where he poured us a large glass of home made white wine each. Then a minute later he came round & poured in some coloured liquid (Alpora?) which is like a vegetable extract drink (a little like Gentiane but orange) & topped it off with sparkling water which made the home made wine a lot more palatable! I drank mine with a my lunch but Cathy put hers in the fridge for later. Guess who's going to doze off this afternoon?

Tonight it's a meal in the restaurant....

No internet so will send in the morning!
