After saying goodbye to Ted and Joyce we made our way inland along 130k of tortuous mountain roads to the premier Nuraghic site in Sardinia , Su Nuraxi. It was built between the 15th and 6th century BC and contains 5 towers clustered together, some outer ramparts and the remains of over about 200 mainly round dwellings. What impressed us most was the huge size of the stone blocks used in the construction of the towers.
After some misunderstanding, we were allowed to stay the night in the car park and enjoyed a barbeque watching the sun set over Su Nuraxi.
