Italian Alps
Shot of the Alps as I was riding along Today is the final day of my trip, it has been quite the adventure and it’s going to be hard to go back to the mundane boredom of being in the Army. This morning I woke up quite hung-over and proceeded to gather my things. I said my thanks the people whose couch I had slept on last night and made my way to my bike. When I got to my bike I noticed that my bike keys were under the bike on the ground and I was like oh crap how did I forget my keys when I parked? But it was still there so I suppose it’s all good. After I loaded my things on the bike and began to leave the owner of the parking garage yelled at me for having the bike in there, well I think that is what he was saying, it wasn’t English and I didn't understand a single word. But the tone and facial expressions weren’t friendly so I just gave the thumbs up with a smile and left.
I eventually made my way out of the city of Graz and made my way to the autostrada and headed to Italy. I
How I found my bike
Notice my keys on the ground? then saw signs for SLO and the first thought that came to my mind was WTF?! I’m not in California. Then I realized that it was a sign for Slovenia and I wanted to add another country to my list so I made a detour through the hills and forest of Slovenia and back to the autostrada. It’s a nice country from what I saw lots of trees and scenic views, prob go back sometime. As I passed the border of Italy I thought I was almost home but my GPS said like 3 hours still and I couldn’t figure it out because I was slightly unfamiliar with the border and all that. So the way I came down the Alps was way off the northeast of the country and I didn’t know the border went that far north. Anywho it was a nice ride there was some nice bridges and cool passes to pullout and take pictures. But I have mad skills with taking pictures on the bike while moving so I rarely stop for a picture unless it’s a really good shot worth looking at for a few before heading out again.
Eventually I saw a sign
Clouds?
Crap! clouds, here comes the rain... Luckily it never rained on me the last day. that said Milano 250km and knew this time I was almost home for real, because Milan is about 200km from Vicenza. I got a little excited and gave the bike a little extra gas and finished the end of the trip off at a rather high rate of speed. I got the gate for the base and the guard asked me where I had been for the last month, (I regularly see this one guy when getting visitors from the gate) and I was like all over Europe man! Finally I got to the barracks and started bringing all my stuff up and it was nice to see my room and my bed just as I left it. My trip was over and I could relax and prepare for work in 3 days.
