Woke up and had a great breakfast, Elaina is sad were leaving. I tell her I will be bringing Kirsten back soon. She’s happy; I think she wants to see Kirsten, not me. Everyone loves Kirsten, but not as much as I do.
I check our flight, they still look good and I tell Drew it will be smooth. He doesn’t believe me, I understand, you have to trust me and it’s tough trusting a parent.
Especially your dad; LOL.
We have breakfast outside, the car is packed and we’ve paid. As I walk toward the car I believe I feel the vines reaching around me and saying good. They know I’ll be back they just want it to be sooner than later.
Before I know it we’re in the car and heading to Verona.
A few hours later we’re pulling into Verona. I tell Drew last year we attended an Opera in this coliseum. I don’t remember the name; but it was tragic love story; ask Bea she loved it. Me, I was hoping for a little more skin. Drew just rolls his eyes.
We drive right into the center of Verona and park.
Again Drew is so confused how does this guy I call dad know how to just cruise into a town and park like he been here 100 times. I just smile.
We hop out of the car and walk to the coliseum. I’m picking up and carrying Drew’s jaw, it’s a coliseum; yea I know; seen one seen them all. Come on let’s go inside where the lions ate people. Drew just looks at me and shakes his head, do I even know this guy.
After walking through, climbing up and down, resting every few steps Drew says someone built this. Well not someone, a lot of someone’s, over a long period of time.
Ok, now that we’ve seen and climbed all over the coliseum, let me show you where Juliet & Romeo hung out. Drew quickly informs me you know dad that is a play by Shakespeare. Yea, Yea, but it happened here right. Uh, Dad I need to tell you something; it’s a work of fiction. Yea, I know but think of the amount of money being generated off everyone thinking it’s not. Drew rolls his eyes.
As we walk into the courtyard where
Juliet said her famous lines form the balcony. I see some young guy having his picture taken along side of Juliet’s statue, while holding her boob. Yea, call me a capitalist.
After leaving Juliet’s courtyard, and no I didn’t hold Juliet’s boob we walked through this very old cathedral. Drew was again in total amazement, of the detail that goes into the building of the cathedrals and vast amount of art.
We got back into car and drove like a bat out of hell until we arrived in Andermatt two hours later.
Yes, Drew was able to see the Alps the shy was clear.
We checked in and our hostess remembered us. We went to the room I changed into long pants. It’s COLD here!
I went down stairs and ordered some goulash soup and a beer. Drew joined me in a few minutes and we had a wonderful dinner and discussed our week together.
After dinner Drew decided to head up to the room and go to bed. I was updating the blog and checking flights, when the waitress came up and asked about Drew’s T-Shirt. It says EA Sports, that’s where, works.
She passed out on the floor. When she revived she ran to the kitchen and the cook and utility guy comes out and ask all about him and what games he made. You can imagine I’m telling them "he’s EA Sports" and were on a trip to research an alpine ski game. Hey, I got a free beer so what the heck.
What Drew doesn’t know doesn’t hurt him. LOL
I get back to the room and Re-Checked the flights we’re still looking good for coming home Sunday.
