Florence, Italy
Nice mild

We took a tour of Venice in the morning. Went all thru St. Marcos with a tour guide. Saw a glass display. Sat on St Mark's Square for lunch. Drove thru Appinnes Mts. Ate lunch in Bologna...on to Florence and the Auto Park Hotel. Quiet evening ...in room early. Tomorrow we tour Florence and off to Rome.

Weather: nice & sunny

Left Venice early and rough night as took pill for constipation and spent the night in bathroom. Stopped in Bologna, Italy for lunch and went on to Florence. It is nice here and suppose to tour tomorrow. I feel better today. Italian people are not as friendly here as other parts of Europe.

Before leaving Venice, went to St. Mark’s Square and it was so beautiful - pigeons everywhere. The church was so old and great. The Parliament House with all the court rooms & jail & “Bridge of Sighs” recalled so much history. All of this surrounded by water. It was lovely.

The Hotel in Florence was nice (Auto Park).

Doge's Palace
In front of Doge's are Patty, Nell, Lamar and Dianne. We toured most of the roms in Doge and were impressed with court rooms, ballroom and the many statures and wall paintings.

In St. Mark's Square, Venice. That's Lamar, Dianne and Nell sitting on steps eating a hot dog from a nearby snack bar. We were pooped out.

Venice
Rialto Bridge in Venice spanning the Grand Canal. We debarked here and walked to St. Mark's. No automobiles allowed in Venice.

Diann inside one of several showrooms of the glass factory in Venice. Display is worth more than $100,000.

Dear Family,
We're really seeing some beautiful sights. The scenery is fantastic. We stayed Thursday night in a Holiday Inn in Luxemburg. Tonight-as you can see- we're in Switzerland-Lucerne. Tomorrow we go up Mt. Pilatus. We passed by Mainz today. It's really changed. Took a cruise down the Rhine yesterday. Very nice.
