Hotel Dorn
Getting ready to leaveFriday 27 February
Im updating so Im starting this from Wednesday 25 February.
We were up early and started off at 9am. We stopped for lunch at Kessel and then Rob drove non stop to Bavaria, where we found Hotel Dorn in Pommelsfelden, it has a Restaurant Laura! The room is lovely with high ceiling and those big fluffy duvets that you get in the south. we are opposite Schloss Weissenstien.

Thursday 26th February
On the way to Venice! After a good breakfast we drove through sleet and snow but then just grey to Munich, a high climb up through the Bavarian Alps but our little car was wonder ful, the Alps, were of course very beautiful we saw lots of skiers and ski lifts---- around Insbruck and then the Brenner Pass / Tunnel and coffee in Italy, lovely blue skies for us and the sun shone most of the way down through Bolzano to Verona and Padua ( magical names).
Un fortunately, the Italians have built a new motorway, so we had to make a slight detour of about half an hour on the way to Trieste as there

View from the Brenner pass were no exits!! Finally after a lot of swearing, we got back on the straight and narrow and got to Mestre, just outsirde Venice , and we can get the bus in.
The hotel is called Ariston, it is small and decorated in Venetian style with painted furniture, we have a large balcony. Very nice. Exploring Venice tomorrow. We enjoyed a lovely meal in a good Italian trattoria.
Friday 27th February.
Got the bus into Venice ( about 20 mins) bought a day boat / bus pass . Straight on to boat no 1 from Piazza del Roma to San Marco , it was fabulous with great views of all the Palazzos and the Rialto bridge
We spent some time walking round all the shopping streets, fabulous shops with costumes and masks.
It was lovely weather so we got back on the boat and took a round trip to the Lido and back to Piazzo del Roma via the Grand Canal
