The hotel we stayed at.
The second part of my Spring Break trip including going to Venice. So after Bologna, April and I hopped on another train to get to Venice. During my time in Italy, Venice was one the places I wanted to visit the most and I was so excited to go. The train ride went by quickly, although we had a hard time figuring out which train stop to get off at because there was 2. Luckily we chose the right one, as the train approached Venice and it became very foggy, then the roads disappeared and all you could see was white, it was really weird not being able to see anything. We arrived at the train station and walked out and there it was. Venice. We had really no idea where to go, so we crossed the Scizi Bridge and walked along the Grand Canal to find our hotel. Our hotel was really cute, and was right on the Grand Canal. We put our bags down and decided to go out and explore right away, we didn’t want to waste any of our time in Venice. Our main goal was to go end up in St. Mark’s Square and the

Venice is an incredible city. It was everything I thought it would be and more. You walk around the and everywhere you turn is another beautiful picturesque canal or bridge. Trying to find your way around Venice is nearly impossible, and it is soo easy to get lost. The only way we were able to find St. Marks square was because there were signs leading us to it telling us where to turn. Without those, we never would have made it to St. Marks. When I was reading up on Venice, the books said the best way to see the city was to get lost in it and just explore. Its so hard to explain Venice because it is just so beautiful. Although the weather wasn’t the greatest, it was foggy, as it usually is there, it didn’t stop us from enjoying the day. On our walk we stopped at a bunch of little shops and took time to enjoy the scenery. I think the pictures will be the best way to describe our day. After we made it to St. Marks Square, all you could see was thousands of pigeons flying around and trying to get

kernels of corn from all of the tourists. I gave in and bought some corn and as soon as I opened the bag pigeons just flocked to me. It was really scary they will sit on your head, eat out of your hands sit all over your arms, it was really funny. I was hesitant to do it, but I’m glad I did, it’s one of those things you can only experience in Venice. After sitting in the square for a while, we moved and walked by the sea. We sat and watched people get on and off the gondola’s and go for a ride. We really wanted to take a gondola ride, but for 60euros that’s a lot of money between April and I, so we just watched and dreamed about taking one some day. After sitting around for awhile, we decided to make our way back to our hotel. We really weren’t sure how we were going to manage that because there were not helpful signs guiding us telling us where to go. It ended up taking us about 2 hours to get to the hotel, it was frustrating, but we did get to see more of Venice.

Since there aren't roads, the only way to transport goods to stores is by boat.
