Upon arrival in Pisa, I anxiously get off of the train. Now, by this time, I really had what I call saddle sores from my legs rubbing together. I did not pack any baby powder because I packed so light. My mistake which I will not make in the future. I suffered for the better part of a day in Rome. I went to a few stores there but they did not have any. Finally, I found a store at the Pisa train station that had baby powder. I purchased and made my way to a restroom. When I got to the restroom, a lady stopped me before entering and said I had to pay .60 Euros to use the facilities. I had heard of this, but this was my first experience on this trip. Of course I paid, made my way to a stall, and applied the baby powder to the irritated area. Ahhhh, finally relief. Now I was ready for my Pisa journey to find the tower. I asked directions from about the locals, and after trusting them, and making my way down a few streets, probably walked about a mile I suppose, I found the tower. There it
Leaning Tower of Pisa
Man..This is heavy.. I barely can hold it... was the leaning tower of Pisa. I was thrilled. I got close and made some photos, and I asked others to take my photo. I actually struck up a conversation with someone who had family that lived in Cumming. Go figure, but we both laughed and said small world. I walked around the tower and the grounds, and decided I would like to go to the top of the tower. I went in to purchase a ticket, but the wait was close to three hours, and I knew that I had an overnight train to catch to Paris, so I sat and laid in the grass area like many of the other tourists, ate some lunch, gazed at the tower for fifteen to twenty more minutes and then decided to make my way back to the train station. I was not exactly sure how to get back, so I thought it best to give myself plenty of time. I started walking, looked back nodded my head around again and departed the area. Things did look somewhat familiar to the train station, and after asking a few locals, I found my way back. I still had a little time to waste,
so walked around the immediate area, sat on a few benches, ate some lunch, and then back to the train station. I made my way to the designated platform and waited. When my train arrived, I made my way to the proper train car, entered and found my room. I was a bit curious as to how this would work, for I have never spent the night on a train. I was the first in the room of the five other roommates that I would have. The room was small with two sides of three beds stacked on top of each other. My designated bed was on the top right. I was actually happy that I had a top bunk. You had enough space to put your luggage and yourself, and that was pretty much it. My other roommates were three German guys, and two Turkish looking guys. I think they were also from Germany though. I didn’t really speak to any of them; I only assisted them with their luggage, and then I went off to sleep. When I awake...I hope to be at my next destination.
