art history walking tour Ciao Ciao! Today was my first day of class, and it was super exciting to go over the syllabus and realize we are going to talk about soccer, food, family, wine, and everything it means to be Italian. The past few days have been really exhausting but awesome. We have done so much but some of the highlights were: a private tour, lunch and wine tasting class in one of the oldest vinyards in Tuscany, a walking art history tour around the center of the city, lunch at the oil shoppe, and our first gelato experience! The vinyard was absolutely gorgeous even with the misty rain that we could literally see coming over the mountains in sheets. They showed us the barrels of wine and then served us a 4 course lunch of penne e tomato sauce, salad, meats, cheeses, breads, espresso and three of the finest wines they produce in unlimited amounts. Everyone was very very satisfied and feeling good after that. It was definitely one of the best things I've done so far. Yesterday we went on a guided walking tour of the historic center, where the guide showed us lots of statues, museums, and landmarks, which showed us

Rachael, me and Ali at the winery. where to go when we want to explore later. Grom was the location of everyones first gelato and it was to die for! I got chocolate (obviously) and something called crema di grom. I dont know what was in that one, but it sure was good and we will definitely go back there regularly. Finally today for lunch we grabbed a sandwich at the oil shoppe. I got a hot chicken sandwich with pesto, tomatoes, mozzarella, lettuce etc and it was everything I heard and more. What's better is that it is a 5 minute walk from our apt. Today some friends and I are going to walk around and try to learn a little more about the city and maybe stop for a cafe latte (my favorite) at our bar on the corner. I think the guys that work there like us because they gave us free wine and chocolates with dinner last night, and tried talking to us this morning over cafe. Their inglese is not so good, but maybe we can teach them, and the can help our italian! More pictures, mostly of buildings and scenery. I wish you all were here!

Great pics
Love the pictures! Your camera seems to be doing fine! Your apt. is just what I had imagined. Looks like small rooms, but VERY charming...nice light fixture. And that huge door to your apt...you should be safe there! I look forward to your next entry. xoxoxoxox
