It was rather wet and overcast on Saturday morning, which helped us all to sleep in. Then, we decided to take it very easy – we went out to some local markets at a very nice town nearby (Buonconvento) which has recently been "renovated" and is bustling with tourist activity. We bought some supplies for lunch – the fruit and vege markets were interesting, but I think it's a hard way to buy your groceries, and let's just say that they think you are strange if you ask if they have women's shoes in a size 41 (I didn't want to confess that I sometimes take a 42 – its only a size 10, for goodness sake)

We drove home a different way, stopping at a monastery (Monte Oliveto Maggiore) but just as we were deciding to explore, we discovered

a) it was closed for lunch and

b) there was an enormous electrical storm descending on us!

So we hightailed out of there, safe home to our little home and an afternoon sleep!

We had a very lazy afternoon, with a sleep, a play in the park, an early dinner at home and then Steven and I retired to the balcony to watch the Tuscan sunset with a bottle of Montepulciano red…this is living!
