For some reasons (I need to look up), Americans have been part of Roman history for a long time. To this date, we have encountered many Americans sightings - tourists and residents alike.
The American sectors of Rome, if you will, is around the Piazza Barberini region. This is one of our favorite hang out spots in Rome. The elegant via Veneto is the home of Palazzo Margherita, which served as the Old US Embassy before it got too dangerous due to many negative responses to the recent Iraqi conflict and moved to a new place at the Embassy Row, north of Rome.
Conveniently, the nearby Santa Susanna is the Catholic Church where services in English are given, and as you guess, a lof of Americans are in attendance. This church is located next to the Santa Maria della Vittoria church, famous for its Bernini's dramatic piece of Estachy of St. Theresia and the Barberini family statues, which are arranged as if the whole church is a thetrical stage.
And to my guilty pleasures, the Hard Rock Café and the only Burger King in Rome are also located in the same region.
How about the famous saying
Foro Romano
Jason and Ryan with a ruin column of Roman Forum. of 'When in Rome ...'?
I never thought that we would be so addicted to this two restaurants, due to two main reasons. One, we have developed the stereotypical American 'fast food culture', so sometimes waiting for the final check on a local restaurant for two hours is out of questions. Two, servings in Roman restaurants are too small for our standards and Hard Rock Cafe food is perfect, and they have free refill on soda pop which we crave the most.
