La Spezia to Rome (via Civitavecchia)

Day 5 - From the monuments of the ancient empire, the Eternal City is an unrivaled open-air museum. The tiny enclave of Vatican City is home to sacred sites and priceless art.

It was raining the morning of our tour to Rome. We met up with our tour group at the port of Civitavecchia, and was driven to the Vatican in an hour and a half time. At the Vatican, we admired the Renaissance spendors of St Peter's Basilica. As we walked along the streets we saw the famous Swiss Guards protecting the Vatican. From there we proceeded to see the incredible Colosseum and strolled the remains of the Forum. To top off our tour, we visited the Trevi Fountain, a Baroque landmark.
