Bridge over the Liffey
14/07/14

Dublin: During the night we steamed on a Northerly direction across the Irish Sea towards Dublin. In the early morning hours with the pilot on board, we approached the port of Dublin via it narrowest channel with various Westerly courses. At approximately 4:00 a.m. we arrived safely alongside, port side to quay. At 9:30 a.m. we met Judy and Greg and went ashore caught the shuttle bus into town and then caught the hop on, hop off, bus which cost 17 Euro each for a tour of Dublin City. The plan was to do a complete city loop and then decide where we wanted to go from there. After two hours riding aimlessly we decided to get off and have some lunch, from there we went looking for a pub that played authentic Irish music. The first pub we found had a billboard out the front saying live music, we went inside and asked what time the music would be on the reply was not today, only from Tuesday onwards. So we kept walking and asking in each pub if they had live music, each pub kept giving directions until eventually we found one, and who should be inside

Halfpenny bridge so named as that is how much the toll was to cross
Howard and Liz and it was Howard’s birthday, so naturally we had to celebrate. After three hours we made our way back to the ship, in time for pizza and an Irish dancing, and singing display, the only available seat for me was down the front, and I got dragged yelling and screaming onto the stage to do my own version of Riverdance with the lovely young ladies, did a pretty good job from all accounts.

When we finally made our way back to our cabin, Colleen was not feeling well so at 10:00 p.m. I rang the medical centre and took her down the see the doctor, before we even got there we were told the consultation fee would be $175.00 a small price to pay as she had an ear infection, received an injection, and is on antibiotics for the next five days. She is not one to normally complain so must have been sick. She is now sleeping comfortably.
